Last night we had a fantastic time recreating Hollywood classic, The Wizard of Oz, for the V&A Friday Late Red Carpet event. We used back projected sets painted by the brilliant Rob Mason, who also created our props, while the beautiful costumes were made by my seamstress sister Isabel Knowles.

We shot the film between from 6.30pm onwards and screened it pretty much as soon as we’d chorused “That’s a wrap!” at 9pm. Thanks to all the brave volunteers/actors who all managed to remember their lines gave star performances. We’ll be editing the film and uploading it onto our YouTube channel very soon. In the meantime take a look at our showreel from a previous festival tour…

Our late night jaunt to the Victoria & Albert museum…

We are delighted that the lovely folks at the V&A have asked us along to their Friday Late event on this week! In honour of Dorothy Gale’s iconic gingham pinnie, (which features in the AMAZING Hollywood Costume exhibition) we are going to shoot a miniature tribute to The Wizard of Oz.

We will of course need some help remaking this 1939 Hollywood classic, so if you happen to be at a loose end on Friday evening do pop along and join us. We have a homemade Flying Monkey costume with your name written all over it!

The event is completely free and in addition to perusing the exhibition, you can also enjoy an abundance of music, activities and performance. Oh… there is also a bar, so if you’re camera shy you can stand off set sipping a G&T. Hope to see you there… don’t forget your ruby slippers!

What we’ve been watching…

As the evenings draw in and the persistant rain continues to leak into the hibernating horsebox, we’ve been pining for our festival filled summer. Despite the inevitable changing of the seasons we’ve been keeping ourselves warm and entertained with various cinema trips. We very much enjoyed Holy Motors and Looper but it was Beasts of the Southern Wild that really blew us away! We were lucky enough to see it last night at a sneak preview screening held at Hackney City Farm.

This wonderful event was organised by elevenfiftyfive, a great company who ”identify the best places within film for brands to connect with audiences in creative ways.” In addition to watching a stunning and eagerly anticipated new film before its release, we also met some lovely farm animals (including Bella the Ginger Pig pictured above) enjoyed a drink courtesy of Rekorderlig cider and ate some delicious BBQ chicken.

Beasts of the Southern Wild will be released by Studio Canal in a cinema near you on Friday. You MUST go and see it on the big screen. We promise you’ll love it as much as we did.

How has the summer flown by so damn fast? It seems like only yesterday we were chugging up the motorway on our way to Latitude and now we’ve returned from Bestival, put the horesbox into hibernation and hung up our wellies for another year.

We’ve had a tremendous season shooting over 100 movies at 7 festivals. We’ve spent weeks on the road in our stripey horsebox, and enjoyed hours of laughter and silliness with all you lovely people. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made our summer so wonderful, from the festival organisers who booked us, to the eager festival goers who starred in our movies.

If you’ve got post festival blues and you’re itching for more filmic frivolity Videopia are available for parties (both with and without the stripey horsebox – depending on the size of your driveway!) July has been a crazily busy and super fun month for Videopia. We begun our festival tour at Latitude, then headed to Secret Garden Party, before finishing up at the gloriously sunny Camp Bestival. Our stripey horsebox is now parked up in a field in Devon having a much deserved break before we embark on the second part of our roadshow starting with Green Man. We’ve made almost 50 movies with wonderfully eager festival goers so far… let’s see how many we can make in August! If you’re heading to Green Man, Shambala, End of the Road or Bestival - come and say HELLO!

After a rather long journey from Devon to Suffolk (the old Bedford horsebox only goes at 55 miles per hour top whack!) we began our summer tour with the wonderful Latitude Festival. The weekend was a roaring success (with plenty of real life roaring from our dinosaurs in Jurassic Park). We had a lot of fun and we hope all our movie stars and starlettes did too.

Gearing up for our festival tour…

After a long winter break our trusty old Bedford TK horsebox is out of the garage ready to roll for our 2012 festival tour! We hope you appreciate the beautiful restored red cab as much as we do! We very much hope to see some familiar faces this summer. We’ll be parking up our mobile movie studio and cinema at 7 festivals… Latitude, Secret Garden Party, Camp Bestival, Green Man, Shambala, End of the Road and Bestival.

Hope to catch you in a field somewhere on our roadshow? We’ll be adding some new movies into the mix this year including dinotastic 90′s blockbuster Jurassic Park! You better start working on your best Tyrannosaurus Rex impression.
