Videopia does Valentine’s Day at Notting Hill Arts Club…

After a wonderful evening of movie making at VAULT festival on Friday we’re going to be returning to our beloved old haunt Notting Hill Arts Club on Tuesday 14th February. We’ll be joining forces with the regular weekday party No Quarter to bring you a Valentine’s Day special… we’ll be inviting you to grab a co-star and act out schmaltzy scenes from romantic films. If you fancy starring in the diner scene from When Harry Met Sally or reliving a cheesey but touching moment from Titantic come down from 7pm. There will also be live acts and the brilliant Soundtracks DJs spinning classic tunes from all your favourite movies until 2am.

We’re massively excited to be throwing a one off party on Friday 10th February as part of the VAULT festival at the Old Vic Tunnels.

Videopia are back in town with an all new interactive show that invites you to star in a very silly piece of homemade cinema which we’ll cast, shoot and screen live on the night. Join us as we attempt to create the ultimate Hollywood inspired blockbuster on a shoestring. With a mashup of scenes throughout the ages, Videopia will take you on a journey from black and white silent movies to modern cult classics and beyond.

Once the director’s hollered, “That’s a wrap!” We’ll pack up the camera and make way for the Videopia DJs, who’ll be on hand with a record bag full of Prince, Bowie and a ton of modern indie-electro classics to boot.

The video created on the night will be uploaded onto the Videopia blog after the event. If you’re brave enough to take part you’ll be able to show off your on screen acting talent to your mum and dad, your mates and your newly acquired fan base.

Forget going to see the latest 3D movie at your local multiplex, this is a rip riotous multisensory filmic experience that doesn’t even require the dopey glasses.

Videopia loves silent movies…

This week we went to see two rather wonderful movies. The 3D spectacular Hugo and black and white silent sensation The Artist. Both were terrifically inspiring and got us thinking about ways we might shoot vintage looking silent movies with our audiences. After all, everyone looks better in black and white don’t they?

The lovely Laurence Dobie has put together a little video of the fun and frolics we had in our stripey horsebox at Bestival this year. Ahhh, such fond memories. Can’t wait to get the old girl on the road again next summer!

Festival season thanks…

After a long summer of touring festivals in our trusty candy striped horsebox we came to the end of our travels at the Isle of Wight’s marvelous Bestival.

We had a truly wonderful summer and we’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to all the festivals organisers for inviting us along and all the festivalgoers for starring in our miniature movies. It was a pleasure to meet you all and we hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did!

Videopia followed the yellow brick road to Camp Bestival…

A big round of applause goes out to all the actors and actresses who starred in our mini movies at Camp Bestival. Whether you played the Wicked Witch of the West in ‘The Wizard of Oz’ or the shark in ‘Jaws’, you were all fabulous!

The Videopia horsebox’s first outing at Latitude festival!

The Videopia mobile movie studio began its festival tour on 14th -17th July at the lovely Latitude festival in Suffolk. We invited lots of very cheerful festival goers into the candy striped vintage horsebox to star in miniature remakes of Jaws, E.T, and The Wizard of Oz.

Converting a Bedford TK horsebox into a mobile movie studio and cinema

The English summertime is almost upon us and this year Videopia will be touring festivals in a (soon to be) converted vintage Bedford horsebox!

Back to the Future for Ollie’s 30th Birthday

On Saturday night we turned an east end bar into a makeshift movie set for lovely Ollie Oshodi’s 30th. Thanks to our wonderful cast who acted superbly in our mini remake of ‘Back to the Future’… you were all absolute stars!

Dirty Dancing at SGP’s Lost Lovers Ball

Last weekend the wonderful Secret Garden Party hosted an epic three night extravaganza at Battersea Power Station. Armed with our camera & boom mic, several wigs & a blow up doll, we shot a very cheesy & rather chaotic version of ‘Dirty Dancing’. Thanks for everyone who got involved in our makeshift remake of the 80′s classic. Apologies for the dodgy sound, it was pretty loud in there!
